JtAH
I know some people will read JtAH-4 and wonder why I would put Xander together with Nathaniel just to let him do all those horrible things... and I have just a few things to say.
Nathaniel is an incredibly fucked up character. He was abused as a child and continued to be abused even past the point when he met Anita. He is also incredibly submissive and self-destructive, seeking to be overpowered, controlled and physically abused. Just because Anita told him "You don't need that kind of stuff, you're all better now..." well, that doesn't mean he doesn't still desire it. It just means Anita is incredibly naive and maybe a bit foolish about her own sense of power over people.
Nathaniel might be able to control his darker impulses for awhile, but I figure at some point he's just going to snap and want his desires fulfilled. And I noticed that before Anita, most of his partners tended to be men... so I think there's other things he's been missing that a vagina just won't fulfill.
When I read the AB books I was always struck by a sense of disbelief that Anita could somehow make everyone's problems better just by telling them how to live. She tells Nathaniel he's all better, and that's supposed to be it? I really don't think so. And someone really needs to go into what's going on in the heads of all the characters that have been raped in all the books, 'cause I really don't think they just go "la la la" afterwards and get on with their lives like nothing happened.
Anyways, I chose Nathaniel for Xander because I figured he needed a good Xandering, even if it was completely warped and twisted and sado-masochistic to the extreme. And I always feel that Nathaniel is a good victim to be abused because without someone to stand up for him... he would totally let it happen.
