Narnia

The trailers for the new Narnia movie are kind of scaring me. The fact that it was described as being the new Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter movie is even more terrifying.

To counteract the effect the movie's going to have on me, I ordered the Chronicles of Narnia on DVD. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Voyage of the Dawn Treader; and The Silver Chair. Produced by the BBC and without all the bells and whistles of modern TV shows and movies, I still loved the series and probably always will. Eustace was such a shit... and Edmund was so the Queen's little bitch.

My attraction for the new movies... you know, the ones that totally warp the fabric of my childhood... has kind of faded a little with time. I haven't even gone to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Why, you ask? Because I was maybe a little disappointed with Prisoner of Azkhaban (betrayer!) and I liked the books better, though my interest in them has waned as well.

Anyways, here's some recs:
The Curse of Chalion, by Lois McMaster Bujold
The Well-Favored Man, by Elizabeth Willey
Aristoi, by Walter Jon Williams
Alamut, by Judith Tarr
Invincible, by Robert Kirkman

And holy crap, looking over my shelves, I just found out I have the Young Justice TPB "A League of Their Own." Who knew?

The Curse of Chalion was excellent. I'll have to check out some of these others. Thanks for the recs!
