So this is totally about The Cabin In the Woods.
So this is totally about The Cabin In the Woods. I've wanted to see it for awhile, but I never got the chance. Only now it's on Netflix and I saw it as the perfect opportunity to get my fix.
I went into the movie already a bit pre-spoiled because of Robot Chicken and other venues that gave the whole plot away, but I was still entertained.
There was plenty of action and violence, but then the ending happened and now I want to write a bunch of fix-it fanfic, and how crazy is that? It was just a bit frustrating for me.
I liked the idea of the horror movie tropes being pre-arranged and run by a bunch of white shirt wearing pocket protector sporting technicians in an underground facility.
Okay, so at the end the only two left are Dana, the Virgin, and Marty, the Jester. So my big question was, Do they not have any people out there that they care about? Because they're such entitled jerks that they see their lives as being more important than the rest of humanity.
I mean, sure, it was a completely awful situation that they found themselves in and I could see that they would be crying and upset, but come on! How important are you that your life is worth everyone on Earth? And sure, the people running the sacrifice were a bunch of bureacratic jerks, but you just saw them all horribly killed in front of you.
Do you really want that kind of thing to happen to your family and friends? I mean, you're about to die anyway when the Old Ones rise, so why the hell would you want that to happen to everyone else?
It's not like everyone else in the world is part of some big Harvest conspiracy ala that South Park episode. For the most part, people are just going about their regular lives completely ignorant of the horror in store for them.
Wouldn't you sacrifice yourself for the world? I mean, I think there's some terrible suckiness out there and some part of me sees about 95% of humanity as just being a bunch of flotsum, but that doesn't mean I want to see them all dead or anything.
So the fate of the world is decided by some stoner? Really?
Anyway, the movie was entertaining. It's on Netflix. Go watch it.
