sad

I was $261.87 short on my drawer tonight. I tore my whole section apart, then the supervisor went through the whole thing. Nada.

To make things worse, I was sweating so bad that some got in my eyes and they started watering. So there I was, the pathetic loser that lost $200+, and then looked like I was crying.

Anyways, I got like an hour and a half overtime because of the debacle and I had to leave my key on the counter because they have to tear my drawer down and try to find the missing money. Shit.

I was having a bad time with the jetscan (counts the bills), and I hope that's where the missing money is. A bunch of not counted $5's and $1's is a whole lot better than money gone all together.

Today was my first time running a window by myself, and what do I do? Lose $200+. Still, I was accountable for $50,000, so I guess there was a chance I could have lost a whole lot more. Right?

I just wanted to say that I have SO been where you are, with the being short on drawers--although I was never accountable for that much total money; I probably would have freaked if I had been--and you have my complete and utter sympathy. I hope that the problem was with the machine and that they find the money there.

It's weird, I only transferred to the cage this week and they just all of a sudden give me a whole bunch of money. I had three days of training, then boom! Thrust right in the middle of things.

I had to figure things out myself last night. $50,000 and I had no idea WHAT I was doing. The counting and making change thing was fine, but then there was tokens, chips, titos (ticket in, ticket outs), and during all that I was supposed to be adding stuff up and making a buy (getting more money so my drawer balanced right.) And to make things worse? The three previous nights my trainer made the mid-level buy and left me running the window, so I had no idea where to even start. I was just kind of standing there with this stupid look on my face last night while everyone else was running around getting their stuff ready and there was no one to help me. Finally Brenda, one of the supervisors came over and did it for me, the whole time saying how there was no time for this kind of crap and I had to get myself together and... yeah.

When I finally went to bed last night I kept dreaming I was counting and recounting money. What bothered me most was that I kept putting like three straps of hundred dollar bills ($30000) on the counter to count them while people were shoving other money at me. I just wanted to yell at myself, "No stupid, someone's going to steal the money! Put it down! Put it down!" Geez... I finally had to wake myself up, think porny thoughts and hug my nephews teddy bear before I could get any normal kind of sleep.

O_O Dude. I thought when 75 dollars went missing at my work, that was bad. At least we found out an employee had stolen the bills. I hope the money turns up!

Where do you work?

The lovely Eureka Casino and Hotel in tropical hell Mesquite. It's like 900-degrees outside right now, but the air-conditioning in the Eureka is awesome.

I used to work in the Gold Club (player's club, tracking cards), but I just transferred to the cage. Today is going to be my fifth day there and in the last four I've already managed to accrue 76 minutes of overtime (1 hour and 16 minutes.)

Last night I handled over 700 cash transactions, so I'm hoping I didn't overpay someone, 'cause that would totally suck.

Do you think they'll be upset over the 200some dollars?

I had to sign and fill out a variance for the missing money and I've been told before that they don't take the money out of our paychecks (erk!) But I don't know. I'm going to work right now and I'll find out how mad they are. Hopefully I'll just get some kind of warning deal or something. Even better would be if they found the money. I'm just hoping my titos (ticket in, ticket outs) were off and the money was there the whole time. Wish me luck.

There, there, and Good Luck! I hope they won't get too mad, considering you're just new at it, and it could've been much worse!

*hugs* I've been short myself, not too badly (4$), but I know how stressful it can be to count - I had to often do my bank while zipping my lifevest to jump on the shore and tie up the boat. Hope it all works out! *gives you naked chocolate-covered fictional slashy man of choice*

Bad enough I was short $200+ last night, but I was short $10.32 tonight. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong... I counted the money carefully when I gave it out, I added up all my titos (ticket in, ticket outs) and checks, I went through everything twice, but still... short $10.

At least they didn't seem super bad. Lee, the supervisor tonight, was all, "Eh, it was only 10 bucks." But still... I must be doing something wrong and I just don't know what. ::helpless shrug::

BTW, what were you doing that you had to count your bank while zipping up a lifevest? Also, is there more Campfic soon? I recced you guys on my Stargate Atlantis recs list (http://www.livejournal.com/users/feygan/67733.html) so I wanna know when I can add the next section link.

[identity profile] kma.livejournal.com 2005-08-01 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
Poor you! I hope it'll be okay soon. Oh, and I worked on a tourboat - was usually the entire crew unless I worked on a charter/DC Monuments run, narrated, assisted passengers and sold concessions all at once, and by the end of the day I just wanted to get my ass back home to DC (I worked in VA), so I tended to count the bank on approach to the harbor. Almost dropped it into the Potomac, once, too...

About Campfic - thanks so much for reccing us! We might get the next chapter out by Friday, but I am about to go see my family overseas on an island where I have no Internet connection at my house, so if it's not up by Friday, could you put a note next to the fic letting the SGA peoples that we're slighty delayed and it'll be out in about a month when I return from the Internetless Land? We're still working on it, we've just gotten sidetracked by RL issues.

Super-duper. I don't know how you can live a month without Internet though. I would completely lose my mind in like two days.

[identity profile] kma.livejournal.com 2005-08-01 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
I used to go nuts in the past... But do not worry! I am not entirely Internetless. There's an Internet cafe like 30 seconds from our house, but it's really expensive, so I can only check e-mail, mostly. I also use it as sorta dating service, since there are often hot men to be found there. ;-) *still misses her cable modem*
